Venepuncture and cannulation are two among the most important things that you should know, especially if you are planning to be a phlebotomy technician. Venepuncture is the process of obtaining blood samples from the vein of the patient. On the other hand, the cannulation is the process of inserting a cannula in the veins. The cannulation is primarily used to administer an intravenous fluid to a patient. The process is also used to obtain blood samples and administering medicines. There are various phlebotomy training schools that will teach you how to do these things. Moreover, you may easily obtain a phlebotomy certification if you take advantage of these schools. Almost every phlebotomy technicians carry out venepuncture to obtain blood samples for testing purposes. You will need to use a syringe and a needle cannula to take the blood manually from a patient. This tool is generally used while taking blood from elderly patients and patients with unreliable veins as it is manually operated. The biggest advantage of this is that you can control the suction that you can apply to the syringe to draw the quantity of blood sample that you will need. It is very important that a phlebotomy technician must be very careful while blood samples are taken using the syringe. The need to be cautious is due to the fact that if the plunger of syringe is pulled with excess force there is a very high chance that hemolysis will occur. That is why you need to take advantage of the phlebotomy technician schools. If you take a course in phlebotomy you will have a much better knowledge of the various processes of venipuncture and cannulation. Everything that you will need to know about this field of work will be taught in phlebotomy schools. It will also be much easier to get a job and join the medical field due to the fact that the schools provide the necessary certification. Moreover, if the school does not provide a certificate, you will still be able to have a certificate of competence in phlebotomy. The reason for that is you have knowledge about this field of work and that you have enough experience. Overall, it is best if you take advantage of the courses offered in different schools. This will give you the upper hand to acquire jobs in the related field.
