Everyone's application will have some holes in it because no one is perfect. Therefore, the MBA Statement of Purpose will give you the chance to address these holes and let the school know that these will not be a longstanding issue. For example, if you know that you have lower grades than many of the other applicants, you can let the school know that you experienced some personal problems or an illness at some point during your schooling and that those issues have now been addressed. There are many different aspects of an application that must be followed, as the committee that reviews these applications is looking for the absolute best students available. Because of this, even the slightest difference between applications can lead to one individual getting into a program and one being left behind. Since you are able to directly address the committee through your MBA Statement of Purpose, you will want to make sure that you fill them in on any potential reasons for holes in your application. For example, if you kept going to school while you were experiencing some serious personal problems and your grades suffered as a result, this is the time to let the committee know about these problems. Your MBA Statement of Purpose is not an English essay, so try not to use language that you would see in a literary course. Your document should be straightforward and to the point because the committee has countless other documents to look over. Sure, a well written statement of purpose is necessary, but it does not have to be well written in the way that an English professor would appreciate. Your vocabulary will not be the difference between acceptance and rejection, so only use words that you know how to use properly. Also, avoid plagiarism at all costs because there are countless ways that a school can find out about this. You will be rejected if this occurs because the school wants your MBA Statement of Purpose to be made up of your own idea. Making the document interesting to read will definitely help you out quite a bit, so avoid simply regurgitating facts that you have learned on the school's website. Integrate your knowledge of the school in with your career goals, as this will make it seem as though there is really no other school for you to think of attending. This statement is a very important document, so make sure that you take the time that is needed to get it right. The school will definitely be impressed if it appears as though you have taken this exercise seriously and it will give them plenty of information with which to conduct their interview. You can even make your interview much easier if you write a good statement, as you can answer many of the questions that the committee might ask you before you even speak with them in person. While outstanding writing is not necessarily a requirement for an MBA program, avoiding spelling and grammatical mistakes will show a certain level of intelligence that the committee will appreciate.
