The Gypsy Nomads will have a concert at The Magic Candle on April 2, 2009 the concert will start 7:00 P.M. There will be no problem in looking for The Magic Candle because it is at the heart of Irvington, 204 S., Audabon St. The Gypsy Nomads makes new age type of music. Their music is made from punk, folk and the vineyards of southern France. They just added cabaret, celtic and neo-medieval flavor to make The Gypsy Nomads type of music. So when you attend their concert do not expect to hear traditional gypsy music. The band or group is composed of two French born artists. Samantha Stephenson is a veteran of the punk era and she is an artist and a dancer. Samantha does the vocals, percussion, drums and is the songwriter of the group. The other member is Scott Helland that does the guitar, drums, and loops. When these two perform on stage you will experience the free spirited lifestyle of the gypsy. It has even been said that their performance is high octane and exciting The Gypsy Nomads have traveled around US all year long; they have performed in festivals, clubs, theaters, conventions, galleries, cafes and house concerts. There wonderful combination of guitar and percussion instruments has sung their songs in English and French. Not only have they performed live on concerts and festivals but they have been featured in films like Rider. There music has even been licensed for TV use by We TV Network and Harpo Productions. It just shows that we Americans enjoy their music. They have also released some CD, CDs that are exciting and spirited blend of music that also reflects or captures their performance on stage.
