Termite inspections are something that should be in your mind if you decide to purchase or sell a home. By law, a seller should inform the buyer of termite infestation. Termite damage can decrease the value of a home. Remember, a home could look totally perfect on the inside, but have serious damage that isn't so apparent.

Do you think that a termite inspection is easy to do without the experience? A quick weekend termite inspection doesn't fit the requirements. It's important that you have a professional do the inspection and provide a termite inspection report.

The Purpose of a Professional Termite Inspection

The main purpose of the inspection is to report any issues regarding the safety and integrity of the property. The process is usually conducted 2 weeks before documents are signed. Individuals which conduct these visual evaluations and provide reports should have a license, certificate, or permit from a government agency.

When this inspection is conducted by a professional, damage and structural problems will be revealed. Window frames, walls, ceilings, and materials may be inspected. Cracks will also be investigated as these are the areas where termites enter a structure.

Misperceptions of Termite Inspections

Termite inspectors are not the ones that evaluate the price of your home. Termite inspectors report termite issues. That includes infestation and damage. Termite treatment services can be provided if damage is found.

Why You Need One

Nobody wants to invest a lot of money into something that's falling apart. A termite inspection will show the buyer or bank if there's any termite damage. If termite infestation is severe, the home may require treatment before the transaction is processed.

It's important that these kind of things are taken care of. If you are the buyer, I'm sure a safe home is something that you want to invest in. This shouldn't be taken lightly. With such a large investment, buyers should insure that termite treatment is conducted.

If you're a seller, it's ethical to have it professionally inspected. While it might just seem like a financial transaction to some people, the health and safety of the buyers can be effected by a termite infested home. If you were on the other side of the table, I'm sure you would like the seller to do the same for you.
