There are so many different ways to garner a reputation as a leader. Several key attributes make a quality leader. These are characteristics that, time and time again, seem to be prominent in great leaders.

First, a leader is somebody who can take a group of people and convince them to work together in order to reach a common goal. Leaders possess the voice and the desire to change individual lives and, in the case of presidents and other high stature leaders, maybe even the world to some extent. Leaders understand the challenges involved in such large tasks and are willing to do what it takes. A leader has the power and the control to maintain respect from their followers while also inspiring them to put their best effort forth.

There are many great leaders of our time who have made a few mistakes, many of them in plain view of the public eye. A good leader is one who can not only claim responsibility for those mistakes, but knows how to use that mistake as a learning tool for future challenges. If something is not fixable it is up to the leader to find a way around the mistake and take the responsibility for it.

Leaders take initiative. They see a problem that needs to be fixed and repair it. They find other like-minded people who are willing to help and see any issue through until it is resolved. A leader gains and hold respect from everybody in their lives for the accomplishments they have made and the examples they have set.

Leaders have not only a commitment to themselves, but to others as well. A leader is someone you can turn to when you lack motivation or inspiration. A leader must be aware that all eyes are on them most of the time and therefore they must carry themselves with dignity, whether they are raising sales goals or planting a few trees for the community.

Everybody wants to be a leader in some way, but it takes a special person to do so. This is exactly what a leader is and what a leader would do in certain situations. Be sure to recognize those special people in your life who are leaders and who have helped you accomplish various goals.
